Hand Painted Persian Earrings
Exquisite pair of rectangular bone earrings hand painted with a figure of a shepherd and a long horned
sheep. The figures are just slightly different on each earring with the shepherd's hand outstreched in one earring and
tucked by his cape in the other. Trees with miniscule leaves frame the figures which are painted on bone and laquered
on top. The backs of both earrings are stamped with the word “Persia”. The time period for these painted
Persian earrings is roughly from the 1930s though they could be from the 1920s through the 1940s. They have screw-back
findings and measure ¾ “ wide by 7/8 inches long and are in very good condition. View of the back:
