Gorgeous Czech crystals are the color of deep red garnets in this beautiful vintage butterfly pin.  The stones are a deep garnet color with the larger stones set as open backed and the smaller stones set in a gilt brass closed back setting.  All the stones are prong set and are quite tall, an indication of the older cutting of stones used years ago.  Estimated to be from about the 1930s period, this piece is a classic piece of vintage jewelry.  The front is not flat, but somewhat rounded, with a nice shape and a moderate size measuring 2 1/2” across and about 1 1/4” from the top to the bottom.  The back shows the old gilt setting with a C-clasp type catch.  The back reveals the larger stones as open backed stones and there is an oval cartouche in the back that reads “Checho”.  Interestingly, the elongated clasp part of the C-clasp is stamped with the word “Slovakia”, thus completing the country of origin.  This piece is in very good condition with all original prongs and stones.
