Art Deco Lorgnette and Dress Clip in Sterling with Marcasites
Vintage estate lorgnette glasses circa 1920s-30s. This wonderful vintage eyewear
is bead set with marcasite stones. Originally thought to be platinum, the glasses are stamped with a mark that
is partially missing and reads "ATINIA" and test positive for silver. Lorgnettes such as these were usually imported
from Germany. They have engraved decoration on the nose piece and handle. The two lense holders portion of the
lorgnette fold up neatly into the spring loaded handle and then can be used as a dress clip so that only the very lovely marcasite
dress clip can be seen. All of the marcasites are original. The brooch alone is beautiful but the lornette makes
this piece very unique and collectible. No glass was present when these were purchased and two screws to hold the lenses
in the frames have been replaced. This piece is in good condition and measures 2 1/8" when folded, 6 1/8"
when fully opened. The glasses lenses are each 1" tall and each 1 7/16" wide.
