Celluloid Elephant Bangle
This celluloid bangle features an elephant peeking his head through daisies and roses.
Circa 1915 to the 1920's, celluloid was a popular material for jewelry making until it was discovered that it was also
highly flammable. When bakelite plastic came along to fill the need for plastic jewelry, celluloid was abandoned.
Most celluloid was made in this creamy color often called ivorine because of it's similarity to the color of ivory.
Most have floral themes and this one features the elephant. Measures 1" wide with an inside diameter of 2 1/2".
