Religious - Sterling Virgin Mary Miraculous Medal - SOLD!
This pretty pendant medal of the Virgin Mary is an Art Deco vintage medal from the 1930s.
The Virgin Mary is shown with open hands encircled by the words "O Mary Concieved Without Sin Pray For Us Who Have Recourse
To Thee". Under her feet is the date "1830" signifying the date that the Virgin Mary appeared to a nun,
Catherine Laboure, now known as St. Catherine, in Paris. In St. Catherine's vision, the Virgin stood inside an oval
shape with her feet upon a globe of the earth. On her hands were many rings of different colors and they cast light
on different parts of the world. The Virgin Mary directed her to have a medal struck with the visions that St. Catherine had
been shown. The visions appear on the front and back of the medal. The back shows the letter "M" surmounted
by a cross and two hearts encircled by twelve stars. This medal is known as the Miraculous Medal. It is 1"
long by 3/4" wide and hangs from an 18" long sterling silver replacement chain and bail. SORRY! THIS
ITEM HAS ALREADY BEEN SOLD.
