Sets - Art Deco Carnelian Lavalier Necklace and Bracelet - SOLD
This is a fantastic set circa 1910-1920 from the Art Nouveau/Transitional time period
featuring a pendant necklace and bracelet of square carnelian cabachon stones set in a sterling silver gilt setting with marcasites.
The decorative chain on both pieces has links of openwork bows with floral centers. The lavalier necklace features two
square cut carnelian cabachon stones prong set with a third larger stone hanging as a drop from an openwork flower and a pair
of leaves decorated with marcasites that have been gilded. The bracelet has one central carnelian cabochon, the same
size as the drop of the necklace (5/8" wide 15mm) by (3/4" long 20mm). Two small gilded marcasites flank the
prong set bracelet stone and two rows of floral bow chain attach to each end of the stone that come together to a single chain
on either side. The bracelet has a safety chain and both the bracelet and necklace are marked "Sterling".
The necklace has had it's upper chain replaced with a period style gold filled replacement chain. Both pieces are in
very good condition with some wear to the gilding consistent with it's age. The bracelet is 6 3/4" long and the
necklace is 15 1/2" long with an additional 1 1/2" for the carnelian drop and it's setting. It is a rare treat
to find a set from this time period. It was most likely imported from Europe, most likely from Germany or
Austria.
