Pins - Carved Bone Pagoda Brooch - SOLD!
Fantastic detail is found in this great Oriental vintage hand carved bone brooch.
A pagoda is nestled in between carved trees and shrubs with a mountain in the background. The entire scene rests on
a carved diamond shape that sits on top of the final background of finely carved openwork. The pin has a trombone catch
closure which is screwed into the bone and is marked "Sterling". This is a very fine imported carving work
that is from the 1940s or earlier, possibly even Victorian. The material, first thought to be ivory, has a very hard
and smooth surface allowing the intricate detail shown in the workmanship of this exquisite piece. Given the theme,
the piece is from the Orient most likely from Japan that often depicts Mt. Fuji as a central theme in all forms
of art. The piece is in very good condition with no cracks. It measures 2" across by 1 3/4" from top
to bottom. SORRY, BUT THIS ITEM HAS ALREADY BEEN SOLD!
