Crib Toy Brooch with Keys
This counterpart to the crib toy brooch with dice (item #707) is a cute little guy
made of beads, plastic and wood with one bakelite bead at the top of his hat. He has glued on googly eyes and a big
heart! His arms, legs and feet swing freely from from large rings and his hands hold two keys each. The keys give
a clue. One key is marked "U.K. Suen" and another is marked "Mele". Mele is a compay that
manufactures jewelry boxes opening in New York in 1912 and are still in business. The U.K. Suen is a company I have
not been able to identify, so if you know of it, please let me know! But the marking does suggest a company from Great
Britian. All of the parts are made of plastic with the exception of his legs which are wood and, of course, the keys
which are metal. This piece comes from a New York estate liquidated in 1999. Circa the 1960s, he measures 5 1/2"
