From the 1940's these big brooches were all the rage.  This one, with it's big sapphire rhinestone measuring 3/4" by 1" is set in a symmetrical swirl of gold vermeil over sterling.  The tendrils extend for an overall size of 2 7/8" wide by 1 7/8" tall.  There is some pitting on the metal due to a broken pin catch which has been replaced.  Now in good working order, it will look great on a jacket, sweater or coat.
