Pins - Chinese Cloisonne Fan Brooch - SOLD!
This is an amazing and most beautiful brooch circa 1920 made of turquoise and coral
cabochons bezel set on a filigree fan of silver vermeil. Seven small cloisonne butterflies with wing spans of only 9mm
(about 3/8") and one larger 30mm (1 1/8") also sit on the filigree background. Miniscule cloisonne flowers
are set between the butterflies in two shades of blue, cranberry red and a light yellow/green providing a richly colored piece.
There are three small chunks of stone, two turquoise and one coral that dangle from the tip of the fan. This treasure,
imported from China for American use, is marked simply "Silver" and the metal is all gold wash over silver.
This brooch is in remarkably good condition considering the delicate enameling and has only one tiny nick where one of the
turquoise pieces are set in a cap. The widest point of the fan measures 2 3/4" wide and the length, including the
danglers, is 2 7/8". This brooch is pictured on the cover of the collector's book
entitled "Antique Enameled Jewelry" by Dale Reeves Nicholls and is featured on page 152 valued at $350-450. SORRY,
